How Do You Eat an Elephant? (tackle that“big idea” one bite at a time)

Recently, a young woman with big vision for the world named Maggie, asked me,

“What does it look like to put structure behind big ideas and dreams?”

I like that question because I’m a dreamer and an idea generator. And it's 2022, after all, so let's go big.

But I believe in doing dreams, not just dreaming them. I’m a pragmatic dreamer.

Maggie and I exchanged a few long Marco Polos about it, because she’s actually living in Bangladesh right now. A 21-year old dreamer living with a few other young students—salting an unengaged district of three million Bengalis with prayer and relationship.

I would say she’s doing God’s dreams for her (and God’s dreams for Bengalis) right now.

And yet, like a true explorer experimenting with the edges of the earth, she’s still asking, “Okay, I got here. But now what? How do you DO big, audacious, crazy God goals? How do I not just float around in ideas, but actually bear fruit with them?”

"Well, how do you eat an elephant?" I replied, "One bite at a time."

There’s more to this.

In fact, I’ve got about five more important and practical tips (of course, I do!) on how to put structure around dreams and goals. Especially when it comes to getting Jesus Christ to every person on the planet.

I think I’d rather talk this one out with you, so I did a Facebook LIVE all about it.

Just click right now and watch it!

We talk about laser focus and persistent energy relentlessly pursuing a faraway goal.

That’s a mouthful. (But even us gypsy, creative-type people can do this.)

Of course, there will be stories, and you get to interact with me, while everyone else listens in.

PS: I know so many of you desperately want to share Jesus with your neighbors and the nations near you (wherever you live). You’ve got dreams and ideas. But it feels big and you need to eat that elephant one bite at a time.

That’s why I created The Neighbors & Nations Course as a self-paced, community-based, step-by-step guided experience that feels doable—and ups your confidence and courage too.

Enrollment opens on February 2, 2022—so click HERE to find out more about how you can put structure behind your God-sized dreams of reaching your street, your city, or even a people group around the world.
